Moonlit Sanctuary

Moonlit Sanctuary
by Emily and Amelia
Visiting the moonlit sanctuary the other day was a great experience. We were able to learn about the animals, how they live, where they live and their classifications. On the wallaby walk we fed and got to interact with the kangaroos and wallabies. We were lucky enough to see the dingoes on their morning walk and to see the Tasmanian devils being fed. Overall visiting the moonlit sanctuary was lots of fun. Emily
The moonlit sanctuary was great. There was so much to see, hear and learn about native Australian animals. At the sanctuary, there are reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. At the end of the day, we got to go around and look at all of the different areas that we wanted to go back to, as well as own animals enclosure to take pictures and learn more about our animal.
One of my favourite things at the Sanctuary would have been the interactivity with the kangaroos and wallabies. When each class group got to the kangaroo and wallaby area, we had a handful of food to give to them. Once they came up they would gently grip around your hand with their claws holding on tight, while we fed them, patted them and got lots of pictures taken. While we were there we were lucky enough to see wallabies and the occasional wallaby joey stick their head out.
Did I mention pictures? Bundles of pictures were taken by each student so that they could have mementos of the day forever. The koalas made their appearance too, but later in the day.
Kookaburras laughed, ducks chased each other trying to nip the other, and the kangaroos nibbled. I loved everything but another favourite, would be the reptiles.
I have always loved reptiles so this was really fun in my mind. There were two-bearded dragons, one single back, a lizard I don’t know of and a python. The instructor held the python though I would have loved too! I was lucky enough to hold the bearded dragon and to my surprise, the other was placed on my head!
Kookaburras laughed, ducks chased each other trying to nip the other, and kangaroos nibbled.
Overall the day was amazing and it is definitely something to do with the family over the holidays.
