Year 10 Outdoor and Environmental Studies

Our Year 10 Outdoor and Environmental Studies classes had themselves a very busy week 4!

We started by attending the rescheduled two day hiking camp in the Lerderderg State Park and Wombat State Forests. Students hiked 24km over two beautiful days, and slept overnight in tents at Blackwood. It was a little chillier than we had all hoped for, being a month closer to winter than we had originally planned, but everybody weathered the conditions really well! Students were exposed to a variety of stunning environments, and will now be able to transfer their practical experiences to their work in the classroom. A huge thank you goes out to Ms Robinson-Conlon and Ms Alfieri for coming along with us!

The Thursday of the same week saw Mr Taylor and I take students on a Mountain Biking adventure at the You Yangs. This was a challenge for many students, but everybody came away with smiles on their faces (despite several crashes!) after several hours carving up the Kurrajong Trails!

Our next excursion sees us tackling the extensive hiking trails at Mt Macedon. 16km’s of stunning views and pristine forest awaits – hopefully it doesn’t snow up there this year!

Keep an eye out for the next edition of the Melton Mail for an update on how we went, as well as everything else happening in Outdoor Ed.
