Western Bulldogs GOALS Program and Graduation

Just an update how wonderful the Goal Mentoring Program has been for our students. On Monday, 20 May they attended a graduation ceremony at Whitten Oval, Footscray.  Other attendees included: Principal, David Reynolds; Assistant Principal, Jenny Buckle; Melton Local State Member for Victoria, Hon Steve McGhie;  parents of students; and teachers.

Students have benefited greatly through important leadership skills where they presented in front of people on numerous occasions which included artistic work and teamwork.

Thank you to Mr Reynolds and Mrs Buckle for supporting the implementation of the Goal program since it was formed in conjunction with the Western Bulldogs. Students have built great friendships and consistently showed  a positive attitude each week.  Students have definitely benefited from their mentors who checked in on a weekly basis through the group session, as shown in the program which was televised on Channel 9.

Melton Secondary College students who graduated are:

  • Year 12 - Akual, Asmiret, Melody, Susquehanna
  • Year 11 - Paskazia, Ayen, Nyalat, Yach, Veronica, Nyandit, Deng
  • Year 7 and 9 - Krystal, Achan

The Western Bulldogs generously provided a bus for the students and parents to travel to Whitten Oval.

Many thanks to the student's parents for allowing and supporting their children to participate in the Goal Mentoring program. We look forward to implementing similar programs in the future for students' benefit through collaboration with partners such as Western Bulldogs.
