Mission & Identity
On Monday we celebrated our Reconciliation Assembly. This important event publicly recognises that our College community is on the land belonging to the Cameraygal people and that across many generations dispossession has had a devastating impact on indigenous life and culture. The theme for 2018 is ‘Don’t keep History A Mystery: Learn. Share. Grow.’ Our keynote speaker Mr David Ella, the Indigenous Education Consultant from the Catholic Schools Office at Broken Bay, outlined the significant relationship indigenous Australians have with the land. In this year of ‘Stewards of Creation’ we have much to learn from our indigenous brothers and sisters.
Mr Ella and Mr Casey proudly led over 90 student Ambassadors into the assembly. These students have represented our College proudly in various sporting events both locally and interstate, wearing the Indigenous stripe on their jerseys. These students, as well as our Immersion students, continue to bring the message of Reconciliation to the various communities they encounter. We also recognised them as models of justice, respect and compassion in promoting Reconciliation and positive relationships.
At our Staff Briefing today we recognised the final Feast of Our Lady for the month of May. The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth proclaims the joy of motherhood as well as the place of Mary as our model of humility, obedience and service.
