School Captains and SRC

MY School Captain Report

All of us have been lucky enough to experience many amazing memories, made many lifelong friends and had great teachers who have shaped us into the people we are today.

Jordan-

2018 was a great year, I enjoyed every part of it. It was an amazing experience and I want to say thank you to all of the people who gave me the opportunity to be part of this role.

At the beginning of the year we made goals that we would like to achieve by the end of the year. My goals we to be more confident and be a good role model to all the younger kids. I think in this role my confidence has grown and I am really lucky to have had this experience.

The Lakes I would like to thank you for the past 10 years as a student and I have enjoyed every second of it. One of my favourite memories at the lakes was hearing my name get called out for the 2018 school captain, the feeling of being a leader in the school I grew up in is just amazing.

Clayton-

I think over this year I’ve reached my goal as a public speaker with our first assembly we were all scared and nervous but we will be heading into our last thinking we will be much more confident and prepared.

I’d like to thank the principal staff for giving me the privilege to be one of the Lakes school captains for 2018 it’s been one of the greatest roles I’ve had.

Nicolette-

I arrived in Year 7 and immediately felt welcome and apart of The Lakes community. I remember going on Year 7/8 leadership camp and realised I really wanted to be a school captain. When my name was called out when I was announced as school captain, I was extremely excited and overwhelmed.

I have been blessed with so many opportunities here including sports, year 9 transition, city experience, MAD, camps and our recent production.

I have had so many learning experiences and learnt so many new skills. It has truly been an honour and privilege to have been given a chance to have been one of the school captains in 2018.

Lilli-

Being a school captain this year has helped me not only grow as a leader but also as a person. It has taught me to be more confident and not doubt myself and also helped me to further my teamwork skills. I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to be school captain not only to make me a better leader but also create such a great friendship with the other school captains. This role will help me in the future greatly because I am now a lot more confident than I was at the beginning of the year and had a chance to work in a team with people who ideas are so different and compromise to include all ideas. I have loved my time as school captain at the lakes and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to extend their leadership skills.

SRC Report

We have had a big year this year being involved in many things around the school. We have been lucky enough to organise many fundraisers including Jeans for Genes day, Footy Day and Crazy Hair Day. Our biggest achievement this year was organising the Middle Years Fun Run/Cross Country which was in Term 4. We were able to raise just over $3000 which will go towards future projects in our school. We are very proud of our efforts!

The Years 5 and 6 SRC’s were lucky enough to be involved in a video conference with two other schools this year. We had the opportunity to talk to other SRC’s from other schools and discussed how they all demonstrate leadership skills.

The Years 7’s and 8’s attended an SRC Cluster meeting where we met other Year 7 and 8 SRC’s in our local area. We participated in many activities which helped in building our leadership skills.
