Year 12 Graduation Mass
On Wednesday 25th September Year 12 began their farewell from O’Connor with the Year 12 Graduation Mass, which was co-concelebrated by Frs Roel and Samson. Music was lead by the Beatitudes with the Year 12 music students starring. This was a special Mass celebrating the year 12 students' achievement in completing their secondary education. Fr Roel spoke to the students about how this was not the end but just a transition as they continue to learn throughout their life and how important it is to always have a thirst for learning. All Students received an O’Connor candle from their PAC teacher, reminding them that Christ is their light as they navigate life post school. Supper followed Mass and it was great to see so many parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family members and friends present to support the year 12 students.
Year 8 RE
This term Year 8 RE have been working on the unit “Striving for Goodness”. As part of this unit students were given the opportunity to work in groups on a PBL (Project Based Learning). In small groups they were asked to choose a project for example, make a short film based on the ripple effect of kindness, develop a set of kindness cards, design a community service visit (which you must do in your own time) + video/report, put sticky notes around the school with kindness messages written on them, create a random act of kindness calendar related to the O’Connor community, plan and implement a pop-up store eg: cake stall, art and craft etc, chalk messages on the concrete (this is to be documented and videoed), plan and organise a flash mob or a public performance of some kind that promotes happiness and striving for goodness OR you could come up with another idea as long as it relates to the concepts above but you must have first checked with your teacher. Students became very engaged in this PBL and most have made a movie documenting their chosen project and completed individual reflections.

Respecting all people Rap Indi Ramage, Macklin Ross, Molly Burton & Laura Search
We fundraise for our school because it’s pretty cool, helping fellow students if you don’t then you’re a fool. Brekky club administers some food that’s really good, It helps our La Salle ministers and proud our principal stood.
When it's cold and chilly homeless people freeze, and we get some blankets to shield them from the breeze.
Vinnies visits autumn lodge to make people smile,They’ve had a tough time and haven’t done it in a while.
ZED club helps, all women round the earth,To help them be healthy and to give them self worth.
Respecting all people is a trait that’s really good, So make sure you do it, you really really should.

Year 9.1
Year 9.1 have worked on a unit titled "The Search for Meaning". The unit focused on the students' attention on the Church's message through our investigation of four key questions, Is there a God? Who am I? Why is there evil pain and suffering? and Is there life after death. The following are a number of quotes and ideas that have helped or will help direct our thinking and understanding .
