News from our Classrooms

Foundation News

Congratulations to the Foundation LW students and families on another great week of Home Learning. Today is Day 46 as we count towards 100 Days of School. Each day at home the Foundation students have the opportunity to complete their own number brainstorm about the number of the day. I am very impressed with the tasks they are completing at home. Keep up the wonderful work!

Last week, as part of our inquiry unit “What is my History and how do I know?” the Foundation students compared a baby photo of themselves to how they look now. With the support of a parent they recorded how they have changed over the past five or six years. Their responses included changed physical features and also tasks they are now able to perform. I have included the photos of those who sent me baby pictures.

Year 1/2 News

Year 1/2 students have done some amazing learning this week! It is wonderful to see all the students settling into the remote learning and finding their own routine. The Year 1/2 teachers are so proud of each and every one of you for embracing learning from home! Keep up the amazing work and we are looking forward to seeing you all again.

I like home schooling because I get to go and do fun activities like making water paints and singing and dancing. I love the yummy food mum makes for recess like Brownies, Cupcakes and ANZAC Biscuits and helping in the kitchen. I miss playing with my friends and speaking to my teacher. I can't wait to go back to school. By Xena 1/2BA

Year 3/4 News

Year 3/4BF students are joining a global bear hunt, making walks around our school community lots of fun during the COVID-19 disruption. People all around the world have been putting teddy bears and other soft toys in windows, encouraging children to get outdoors for a walk with their parents while hunting for bears. Along with teddy bears and soft toys, Year 3/4BF students are sharing messages of kindness to cheer up those who pass by.

Year 5/6 News

Some thoughts by some of our Year 5/6 students....

The first week of online learning was constant stress and confusion on how I was going to start the day. As I gradually continue to learn online I begin to get used to the routine of doing so. Even though I've kind of gotten a hang of online learning I still prefer learning in the classroom and one on one interaction with my teachers and classmates.  As for this week it is getting easier and easier for me to learn online as our teachers are having class facetimes with us and creating more of an efficient schedule for us to use. Remote learning is a rollercoaster of excitement and challenges. I could not wait to get started. At first the work was tricky and hard to follow but as we learnt more about this experience it got easier. My parents say that this is a taste of university and high school and it is good for our self managing skills after all you could not just give up. Everyone had to stay self motivated to get up to get to this point. This is an experience I will never forget and if we keep pushing we will get through this together. Keep up the great work everyone and remember to stay safe and smile! By Leah Sortino 5/6OS

I like homeschooling because it lets us spend some quality time with our families. We can still keep in contact with our friends by video calls and texts. I like it also because when I need help with something my mum will be there to help. It is still a good system because it still allows us to do work and keep learning new things every day. I also get to stay in my PJ’s some days. This is why I like homeschooling. By Luca Sportelli 5/6OS
