Performing Arts

This week has seen unprecedented changes to schooling in NSW. Students are being all their curriculum on line. We in the Performing Arts at SPX have been thinking deeply about how we deliver our subjects which have a significant practical content. We believe we have devised a range of tasks that will challenge our students.

Significantly we have been working out how to deliver individual lessons and ensembles. Until the end of term, ensembles will not be going ahead as we have not found an on line solution to ensemble rehearsals. As far as lessons are concerned we believe we have found a safe and manageable solution at least to the end of term. If students are not at school, lessons will be delivered video lessons on line through the TEAMS function of Office 365. We are awaiting final approval but at this stage this is the school's preferred platform of delivery. Lessons will take place at the allotted time in the student's home. Could I please ask you to bear this in mind:

  1. Lessons should not be conducted in bedrooms but in an open place in the home.
  2. Students should be dressed according to the mufti day dress rules in the diary.
  3. Lessons will be recorded

All other normal protocols apply.

At this stage we are only thinking to the end of Term 1. This is because of the fluidity of the current situation. More information will come to light as Term 2 approaches. If you would like to contact me directly about lesson and ensembles I am happy to discuss the arrangements.

The individual music teachers will be contacting you in the next few days to arrange on line teaching.
