Prayer/Reflection:
Please remember Mr Simpson and his family in your prayers. His mother, Joan, passed away last week and the funeral is today.
Father of all, we pray to you for Joan and for all those whom we love but see no longer.
Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them.
May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen
THE WEEK THAT WAS:
OFF CAMPUS LEARNING
We had 60 children turn up in the Junior School on Tuesday. Mrs Iwatani had a huge class of 3 students.
We taught the boys at home and online via Microsoft 365 teams and via the portal timetables where we have left work. Many teachers also emailed the boys. I taught a protractor lesson and one boy didn’t have a protractor. For another boy I had to tell him to ask his parents for some extra assistance tonight as he was having difficulty and I couldn’t physically show him. I could demonstrate on a screen but for some boys they need a bit of extra help. Some lessons require the use of Teams but other lessons will simply be posted on the Portal with links. I found that all my Year 5 boys logged into Teams but many of my Year 6 students didn’t log in.
It is very important that the boys have their equipment at home. They need to have their Maths Plus Mentals and text book, Maths grid book, English exercise book, Science book, HSIE book, RE book and their Spelling book. They will also need protractors and compasses. Year 5 also take home their Grammar books and their Cars and Stars. If you need to collect some of your son’s books please email your son’s teacher (Mr Simpson’s class please email Mr Long.) before the end of this week and the teacher will arrange for the books to be left downstairs at Student Reception.
Thank you to all the parents and students who are trying really hard with their online learning. I know some boys yesterday forgot to have a break. Please remember that you should be at a table and not on a couch or in bed when you are working.
It is a brave new world and we are all learning together.
Please note: that we had staff development today and no work was set – online learning will recommence tomorrow. It is important that you read your emails.

Junior School Sport
Unfortunately I currently don’t have much information to give you. IPSHA have instructed that they are in consultation with other sporting associations to ensure there is a consistent approach to sport in the future. But for the time being, we are unfortunately in a wait and see situation.
Please see the latest information from IPSHA from 19 March:
“We are currently in discussions regarding the status of IPSHA Sport and will send an update once we are able to give a clear guideline. That discussion is including not only CIS and DET, but also other school associations so that as much as possible our approach will be in step with them so as not to cause confusion in families where they have children across multiple associations. We cannot guarantee this and it should be noted our principle concern is to maintain our primary school pathway.”

Mrs Martin’s Book Trail – OUR PLANET: THE ONE PLACE WE ALL COME HOME by Matt Whyman.
Non- fiction picture books rule at the moment! A great design, great balance of text and graphics. This is the official children’s book version of the Netflix documentary series, Our Planet. Endorsed by the World Wildlife Foundation and with a foreword by Sir David Attenborough, it is an authoritative exploration of our planet’s natural world using both illustrations and photographs from the series itself. #mrsmartinsbooktrail2020
