Stage 3

A message from Stage 3

Welcome to Term 3 and to what is shaping up to be a busy one for our students and teachers.

Stage 3 Learning Showcase

Thank you to all of visitors who attended our Learning Showcase last week. There was a lovely vibe within each classroom and the Stage 3 students really enjoyed sharing their learning with you. We value the opportunity to welcome families into the classroom and having the opportunity to build relationships and learning partnerships with you to support our students.

Great Aussie Bush Camp

In three weeks, Stage 3 will depart for the Great Aussie Bush Camp. Today students will receive an information note which contains a packing list and a souvenir order form. A medical form will also be emailed to families today. It is essential that this form is completed for every student promptly, to assist with planning and preparation. On Friday, students will attend a Zoom session with the program director of Great Aussie Bush Camp who will provide our students with some information about the camp and answer any questions students may have.

An Evening with ACOS

This week, we have many of our Stage 3 students involved in rehearsals, with the evening performance being held this Thursday night. For the students in Stage 3 who are not involved in performing, an opportunity has been provided for these students to attend the dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Please ensure that the digital permission note has been completed online. If you require support to complete this note, please phone the school office. Thank you to Mrs Porter and Mrs Howlett for all of the organisation that has been undertaken to provide the performance and audience opportunities for our students; to the Stage 3 teachers who are volunteering their time on performance night to support our students; and to our Stage 3 parents for your support in enabling students to participate. It is sure to be a fabulous night!

Mathematics

This term in Mathematics, Stage 3 students have been adding and subtracting fractions including mixed numerals and learning to solve word problems involving fractions. They have been exploring two-dimensional space by measuring the angle properties of squares, rectangles, parallelograms and rhombuses. The students have been challenged to identify and name parts of a circle, including the centre, radius, diameter, circumference, sector, semicircle and quadrant.  They have also learned to identify and draw regular and irregular two-dimensional shapes from descriptions of their side and angle properties.

PDHPE

This term in health lessons, Stage 3 students will be engaging with the Department of Education Child Protection unit of Safe and Unsafe Relationships. Last week, students worked on completing Y charts which involved discussing respect in the classroom, playground, home, sporting contexts and at the shops. Further information about the unit can be found on SchoolStream.
