Curriculum Day – Session 2

On Wednesday August 9th, teaching staff at the college were involved in a second series of workshops to continue their valuable work around developing a guaranteed and viable curriculum. The sessions’ focus was to co-construct a new lesson plan template; the aim of which is to provide a platform to enable our teachers to have a consistent teaching practice that is based on current best research. The structure of our lessons (how they are delivered in every classroom) is informed by our PLSC Instructional Model.

Our classrooms are consistent, predictable, and welcoming to all students and staff. Our teachers have high expectations of our students and provide high levels of support. We enter a collaborative partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Universal Design for Learning Principles

In our next newsletter we will discuss the UDL principles for learning and the purpose behind using this pedagogical approach to (1) engage students in the learning process in multiple ways, (2) the belief that there are multiple ways of representing knowledge during the learning process and finally (3) by the process of teachers constantly collecting evidence of learning against the learning goal(s).

This continues the important work for us here, as it will form the guiding directions of our curriculum for the next four years.
