District Winter Inter school sport Finals

Rugby Tag

The rugby tag team won our semi-final and grand final match.  We were all so nervous before our semi-finals match because we wanted to be the first Resurrection mixed rugby tag team to at least come runners up in the grand finals.  But first we had to win our semis. We went up against Wallarano. It was a really fun game and it was a bit difficult, we ended up winning 7-4 and we had an hours break.  Everyone played and had fun. Then 15 minutes before I made the entire team run a lap of the field and most of the team were so slow but Blake, Maya and Leah were waiting because we had already finished after the lap we started stretching with the whole team.  Then in the finals we were up against Keysborough, we had a lot of fun going against Keysborough in the grand final.  We ended up having a really suspenseful game and at the end the results were 1-4 so we got the premiere and we get to go to divisionals in 2 weeks. The entire team is so hyped up and ready to play.

AFL

On the 13th of July the Afl team went to Barry Powell Reserve to play in the inter school sports finals. In the semi finals we played St Anthonys and we were determined to win the game. It was half time and the game was very tough and we were all playing our hardest. The scores were 8 to 1 at half time and we were winning. The game started and it was extremely windy making it hard to score any goals. St Anthonys got it into their forward line and they ended up scoring two goals in a row very quickly. The game was coming to an end and it was close to our forward line. James then handballed the ball to me and I kicked it far towards the goal and I scored. The umpire blew his whistle and the game was over. We had won. It was 15 to 13.

In the grand final we were playing Silverton who had beaten Mt Hira in the second semi final. We knew that the game was going to be extremely tough as they were a very good side. The game started and we were very nervous as it was the grand final that we had worked hard to play in. Through the entire first half the game was intense and there were heaps of tackles and contests. It was half time and the scores were 6 to 7 we were down by 1 point. We were all tired as we had to run and tackle a lot. The second half started and it was still extremely windy and the game was very tight. It was close to the end of the game and James marked the ball he went back and then kicked the goal and scores were level. We went back into the middle for a ball up and the whistle went. The game was a draw and we had to go into extra time which was two five minute halves. Extra time started and we were all determined to win the final. It got down into our forward line and we kicked a point. The first half of extra time was over and we had scored two points. We were leading by two. The next half started and it was a very tight game. It got into our forward line and there were heaps of people. I then grabbed the ball out of the contest and I kicked the goal we now lead by eight. The umpire blew his whistle and we had won everyone was over the moon.

 Boys Soccer

Both the soccer teams played in the semi-finals, held at silverton. The boys went up first against Noble park. We were all so nervous, but all of us got a motivational speech from our coach Mr V.  It was an intense match for us, going back and forth, pushing and pulling. It was tiring but we kept going. Suddenly, in the ninth minute their midfielder tried to shoot and got past our goalkeeper (Thomas) and succeeded. It was a clean shot, right out the back. We mostly played on their half and had the ball the most. We did our best but our strikers and wingers couldn't get past their defenders. Also, during the second half,  one of our players tackled their opponent badly and went off the pitch in tears. But finally the game was over. We were all so disappointed and some of us went off the pitch in tears. We tried our best but sadly said goodbye to the finals and the premiers flag.

Girls Soccer

On the 13th of July, the girls soccer team went to Silverton to play finals. The school we played against was Sirius college and it was a very tough game. Before the game, we were all very nervous since we wanted to make the grand finale. When we played Sirius, everyone tried their hardest but unfortunately we lost five nil. Their strikers were kicking goals from left and right. During the game, the weather was very windy and cold, luckily it didn’t rain. They were a very good team and we enjoyed the experience. We had come a long way and we enjoyed playing against them. Our goal keeper, Elexiya, saved so many goals and the defenders did very well as well. The strikers and midfielders did a lot of running but they did a good job since they tried their best. Some of the girls were a bit upset that we lost although we are very proud of our achievement. Some of us were crying since we were so passionate to win and go to the finals but we had to say goodbye to the premiers flag.

Netball

Both the Girls and the Mixed Netball teams also made it to the finals.  Unfortunately the mixed team lost their semi final and didn't go any further.  The Girls team won their semi final so then played St Anthony's in the Grand Final but unfortunately lost in a very close match.

Well done to all the Inter school sport teams for making it to the finals this year.  It is a great achievement to just make it this far.  Congratulations.

Divisional Sport Finals

The rugby tag team this Tuesday won our divisionals semi-final and grand final match.  We were all so nervous before our matches because we were the first Resurrection mixed rugby tag team to get to divisionals.  But first we had to win our knockout semis match. We went up against Rosewood Primary school. It was a really fun game and it was a bit difficult, we ended up winning 5-3 and we had a 5 minute break.  Everyone had fun.   Then in the finals, we were up against Dandenong south, we had a lot of fun going against them in the grand final.  We ended up having a really suspenseful game and at the end the results were 4-3 so we got the premiere and won the entire tournament since there are no other stages.  The entire team had loads of fun.

We need more items for Play/Build Club

Play and build club is still going strong - seeing lots of children in Years Prep, 1 and 2 come to use the natural and loose play equipment we have on offer.  The Mud kitchen is a huge success which the children love to play with.   BUT WE NEED MORE things to play with and replace!

We are in desperate need of more items to help our children thrive in this club.  Help them build more cubby houses or make things in our Mud Kitchen.  If you have any items at home that you could donate to the club please bring it in to our school office. Things such as:

Planks of wood

Unbroken pipes

Buckets and spades

Pots and pans

Baking trays

Kitchen untensils

Thank you
