                         PARENTING TIP FROM

Can your child cope with frustration?

Here’s a story you might relate to:

When it's time for your little one to stop playing or leave the playground, they often get frustrated. Usually yelling, "I don't want to!" or "That's not fair!" while refusing to move.

In those moments, we sometimes catch the frustration bug too.

The problem is that when we respond to our children’s frustration with our own frustration, we only add fuel to the fire.

And we model exactly the ways we don’t want our children to handle frustration.

If we want our children to choose calm and patience in their moments of frustration, we must show calm and patience in our moments of frustration.

So, it’s our job as parents to help our kids learn acceptable, effective ways to manage frustration, like pausing and taking deep breaths.

But it’s also our job to set an example by managing our own frustration.

This week, we’re sharing I Can Cope With…Frustration, a guide for children AND parents to handle frustration calmly and effectively.

You and your child will think about what triggers your frustration, plus learn strategies to stay calm and choose kindness. Take a look!
