Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

RACIST BULLYING

Our school is committed to ensuring all students from all backgrounds feel safe and connected at school and can achieve their best. We have a zero tolerance policy for any form of bullying but in particular racist bullying. Myself and Danielle Toone, Assistant Principal are available to talk about issues of concern. Below is some further information which may be of assistance.

DEAKIN UNIVERSITY STUDY - SCREEN TIME AND GREEN TIME EXPERIENCES

Deakin University is conducting a study to understand how screen use and exposure to nature influence parent and child wellbeing.  They're looking for Mums and Dads of 5-8 year old children. If you're interested in participating please follow the steps on the below flyer.

COTTAGE BY THE SEA

It was my pleasure to join the students and staff at Cottage by the Sea this week. They have had a wonderful time completing fun and adventure activities including beachcombing, swimming and surfing.

The Cottage by the Sea camp coordinator's commented many times just how well our students had settled in to the week-long adventure. The Cottage by the Sea team always send the students home with a special memento of the time in Queenscliffe.

It is such a great experience and the students return with a sense of independence which comes from being away from home and challenging yourself to attempt activities which they may not ordinarily do.

I can happily say that they booked us in again for next year from Monday 28th October to  Friday 1st November 2024 inclusive.

I’d like to thank Lily Maglaras and Pat Kluver for attending the camp this and participating in all the fun activities.

YEAR 3/4 CAMP KANGAROOBIE- Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th August

Camp month continues and planning is in place for next week’s fun adventure at Kangaroobie. The Year 3/4 teachers, staff and students are about to embark on one of our favourite camps of all. Some of the activities include; Farm Tour, Obstacle Course, Survival Game, Hut building, Ropes and Beach Activities. Parents please check the clothing list as there are many activities which result in wet and muddy clothes. We are all looking forward to another great camp at Kangaroobie. BOOK WEEK PARADE- Monday 21st August at 9am

Book Week this year is from Monday 21st August. This year's theme is READ, GROW AND INSPIRE. As an annual event most schools hold a whole school dress up and parade. Ours is on Monday 21st August at 9am and will take the place of our regular Assembly. Students can come dressed up as a favourite book character. Costumes can be as minimal or elaborate as you like. For some great costume ideas visit https://madisonslibrary.com/2021/08/01/book-week-easy-costume-ideas-from-things-in-your-wardrobe/

There will also be many fun reading activities across the week to remind us that we love reading books.

WARRNAMBOOL PRIMARY PARENTS ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES

Our Parents Association have two major fundraising events to complete the term. These are the Father’s Day Stall on Friday 1st September and the Footy Breakfast on Friday 15th September 2023. These are great activities and the students love having their families in and around the school. More information about these events will come out shortly.

The hard-working committee are always looking for help so if you are able to help at either or both of these events please contact the office and let Skye know.

FOOD SHARE DRIVE - FROM MONDAY 7TH AUGUST

The Warrnambool Primary School JSC members are once again holding our Annual Food Share Drive!

Donations will be accepted from Monday 7th August in each of the classrooms.

So please get purchasing to support such a worthy cause to our school.

COUGHS AND COLDS

Please stay vigilant as the cold and flu season lingers in our part of the state. The simple message is to stay home if unwell and to seek medical support if you feel that yourself or your child needs that service.

STAFFING

We wished Kellie McConnell farewell this week as she enters family leave. This is such a special time for Kellie, Liam and family and we wish them all the best.

Have a great weekend!
