GENETICS

Year 10 General Science students, through their recent studies in Genetics, worked out the genetic combinations of Ma Potato and Pa Onion, and created their own vegetable offspring. There were varied traits inherited from the parents, and many statistics gathered and compared. All new baby boy onion, and girl potato offspring arrived safely, and the parents were very proud!

YEAR 10 APPLIED SCIENCE

Year 10 Applied Science students are participating in the Cows Create Careers project throughout Term 3. Michelle Axford, our industry advocate, visited students to give them a presentation about her role in the dairy industry.

YEAR 7

Year 7 Science classes recently completed their topic of Separating Substances with an investigation on how to clean dirty water. Students were given a sample of dirty, brackish water and had to come up with a plan on how to make the water sample clean, free of any bacteria or dirt particles, using the knowledge they had gained throughout this topic. With their thinking caps on, the majority of students designed their setups, completed their practical investigation, then had to write it up as a practical report for assessment. Some ingenious ideas were thought of and all students were successful.
