Junior Dance Company

On Friday 23rd June the Junior Dance Company attended the Junior Dance Showcase at Ravenswood. They performed their Lyrical dance "Rise Up" for the first time publicly after their debut performance at the Junior Performing Arts Night earlier that same week. The dancers enjoyed watching performances from a range of other schools and represented Pittwater House with pride.

Thank you to Ms Campling for her choreography and support throughout the day.

Senior Company A and Senior Company B

Inaburra Festival:

On  the 15th of June our two Senior Dance Companies had their first performances of 2023 at the Inaburra Dance Festival. Although it was a long day, the dancers represented the School very well in the workshops, tech plots and throughout the performance. Some senior students even snuck in some study time during the lunch break! The Senior A Jazz group was choreographed by Hannah (C12), with contributions from Sofia (C12). Hannah attended the festival in a student-choreographer capacity and her support of these young performers was exemplary. The Jazz work was of a very high standard as a result of her mentorship and care. Five Pittwater House senior dancers also took on a leadership role in the teaching of the finale to the ten other schools.

Ryde Eisteddfod:

On Saturday the 22nd July both Senior Dance Companies competed in their first competition at the Ryde Eisteddfod. Both the Jazz and Contemporary sections were highly competitive, however, the Company A held their own as a Stage 4 group among senior Jazz dancers and achieved a mark of 80+. Company B danced their complex work with impeccable style and maturity and were awarded 3rd place (out of a whopping 12 entrants!) Congratulations to both groups for representing Pittwater House so well.

Thank you to the company managers, Mrs Tamatea, Mrs Colless and Ms Eaton and Company A coach, Hannah (C12), who attended on the weekend to support the students.

HSC Dance

The accelerated HSC Dance class completed their Practical Dance Trial exams at the end of Term 2 and are now preparing for their final HSC examinations in Week 5. Thank you to the executive staff who attended to support the students throughout the trial day.

We are very proud of the growth demonstrated by the dancers so far this year and look forward to their performances at the Dance Showcase on the 30th of August.
