Grade 1

Term 3 - Week 3

Grandparents and Grand Friends day

The children are all very excited for Grandparents and Grand Friends Day this Friday! We have been talking about what makes our Grandparents and Grand Friends so important to us. We are learning some new songs to sing at our Grandparents and Grand Friends Mass. This will be at 9.30am on Friday, followed by a morning tea. The children will then be participating in some fun activities in their house colour groups.

Inquiry- Living and nonliving things

This week we have been reading books about the human body and animals. We have been learning about what a living thing is as this was one of the children's main wonderings around this topic. We discovered that the three main characteristics of a living thing are: that they grow, they eat and drink and that they reproduce.

Maths- Addition and subtraction

Our focus this week in Maths has been addion and subtraction. We have been learning about 'fact families'. Fact families help the children understand the relationship between addition and subtraction. They consist of 3 numbers such as: 2, 3 and 5 like in the picture below.

Ballarat Wildlife Excursion- Friday 8th September

Keep an eye out on PAM for the permission form for our upcoming Ballarat excursion! This note will be uploaded on Friday the 4th of August. We are very excited for our excursion!
