YEAR 11 CAMP

YEAR 11 STUDENTS

In the last week of Term 2, all of the Year 11s travelled to Melbourne for camp from Tuesday through to Friday. We started our time in Melbourne by breaking into groups to see the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre and then participate in the city scramble. While one-half of the grade explored the life of Saint Mary MacKillop, the other half navigated the city to find famous landmarks. After dinner back at CYC, we went to KingPin to play at the arcade and the bowling alley.

The following day started at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum in Elsternwick. We listened to an information session to learn about the war and what Europe was like back then. To give us an even better understanding was Sara; a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor who shared her story with us. Along with other schools, we were able to listen to how she survived Nazi Germany by taking on multiple identities and fleeing to Israel and were given the chance to ask questions.

We followed this by splitting in two; half of us free to roam around the zoo and see all the animals while the other half of the students went to Bounce. That night we went to the Princess Theatre to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The next day started out at Docklands where we went ice skating and to ArtVo. Back in the city we toured the Shrine of Remembrance and were given free time until we went to the Eureka Skydeck. Our last day was spent touring RMIT where we learnt lots. We then travelled back to Swan Hill. On the train and then it was the holidays!

Thank you to the teachers who came on camp and cheers to Grace for organising it all. It was very fun.
