Interschool Athletics
Over 400 students hit the track and field at the Llanberris Athletics Stadium last Wednesday and persevered through the four seasons on the one day! Over 15 records were broken and many points were earned for all the houses. A big congratulations to all the students involved!
A big thank you to all the parents, uni students, Little Athletics helpers and our wonderful school staff for all the hard work they put on before, on and after the day to make us such a success.
Unfortunately due to time constraints, a few events need to be run/re-run at school this week for the final house points to be calculated and Division team to be selected. We would like to invite the following groups/individuals to the following sessions:
High Jump – Wednesday 1.10pm in the gym
- 12/13 Girls
- 12/13 Boys
- 8+9 Girls
- 10 Boys
- Charlotte Roberts
- Haylea Robertson
- Tahlia Jacka
- Jy Phelps
- Macey McQuie
Triple Jump – Friday 1.10pm on the oval
- 11 Girls
- 11 Boys
Once all events and results have been finalised, they will be published via the school newsletter. Anyone who needs to collect a ribbon will be welcome to do so at the P.E. after this. Please note that the running events on the day are heats and place ribbons will be awarded to the fastest four in each age group (not heat). We aimed for all students to leave the event with a ribbon, so if anyone missed out, they are welcome to come and collect a participation ribbon.
Presentations for the overall house winners and age group champions will be announced on 5 April at the next whole school assembly.
Photos from the day can be found here.
Division Swimming
Congratulations to Will, Tri, Macey, Quinn, Savannah, Olivia, Meg, Cam and Matt in representing Buninyong Primary at the recent Division Swimming. All swimmers did a fabulous job and enjoyed the day at Eureka Pool. We had some swimmers make it through to the next round in Horsham in a couple of weeks and we wish them all the very best there.
A huge thank you to the wonderful parental support we had on the day. There was a great turn out and so many parents put their hand up to be time keepers and/or team organisers. Your wonderful support and enthusiasm is so gratefully received!
Congratulations Lawn Bowls Team
Well done to our terrific team who competed in last week’s bowls competition. They finished 3rd overall and should be very proud of their efforts. A big thank you to Ms Nankivel, Mr Young and the wonderful Buninyong Bowls Club who trained, supported and guided our team along the way.
Congratulations to all involved!
Interschool Netball Team Registration
Buninyong Primary School will again be entering team/s into the Darroch After-school Netball Competition at Llanberris Netball Stadium. These will be run on Tuesday nights (times as per competition draw) in Term 2 and is a participation competition only (i.e. there are no finals).
Grade 3-6 students interested in joining a team will need to register via this form before 18 March, 2019. Please note that we will endeavour to include all interested students. Teams will be decided by Narelle Sullivan and Claire Morris and will be based around the age groups of Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6.
The cost is estimated to be around $45 (+ VNA if required) and will need to be paid before 1 April, 2019. Uniform will be the red school top and black skirt/shorts/trackies. Please note that own transport to and from games will be required each week.
We will be looking for interested parents to coach and score each week. Obviously it would be great to have the same person however a roster will be set up in the event this is not possible. Request for assistance will be sent out once teams have been finalised.

Ballarat Minors Lunchtime Clinics
We were super impressed with the level of student interest in last week’s Minors Basketball Clinics.
With over 120 students showing up for the Prep – Grade 2 session, we have needed to split these up to the following lunchtimes:
Prep – 2 Girls – Monday 25/3
Prep – 2 Boys – Monday 18/3
Grade 3-6’s will continue to run each Thursday until the end of term. If your child is interested in attending, please remind them on the day and for them to bring appropriate footwear.
BDSA Soccer Clinics
Preps to Grade 4’s will be spoiled with some special Soccer clinics run during their P.E. lessons in Week 9 + 10 as part of the Ballarat District Soccer Associations drive to encourage children to take part in soccer. A big thank you to Kelly Sports for providing the program to us.
Cross Country
Our annual Interhouse Cross Country is set to take place next Tuesday. All spectators are welcome. Please see the attached flyer for times and course maps. All races will start and finish on the oval. Students are encouraged to wear house colours for the event. Look forward to seeing you all there!!

P.E. Shoes
A reminder that students need to have clean, dry sports shoes for P.E. We recommend bringing a spare pair to school to ensure maximum participation in class. To find out when your child has P.E., please check your Compass portal.
