ICAS/ REACH Testing
International Competitions and Assessments for Schools
Once again this year we will be offering students the chance to participate in ICAS. These assessments are an ‘opt in’ opportunity that have a cost associated with them. Detailed reports are provided once the assessments have been completed that give another opportunity to identify established skills and those that need further attention. The reports are provided for both parents and teachers.
This Year the University of NSW, who coordinate the tests, have reimagined these assessments into two categories; ICAS and REACH. We have chosen to participate in the REACH assessments as it will allow more students an opportunity to participate. Reach Assessments provide knowledge to educators and are a powerful diagnostic tool for future planning. The assessments are based on the curricula for the student’s relevant year. Items range from recall and routine application, through to more demanding questions.
Registration forms are included below.
Registrations close on Tuesday 26th March.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL REGISTRATION FORMS ARE TO BE RETURNED TO THE OFFICE, REGARDLESS IF PAID VIA Qkr.
Harmony Week
Next week is Harmony Week (17/3 – 23/3) and as a school we are looking to celebrate multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.
Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country — from the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians to the cultures of our newest arrivals from around the world.
Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live.
An integrated multicultural Australia is an integral part of our national identity. All people who migrate to Australia bring with them some of their own cultural and religious traditions, as well as taking on many new traditions. Collectively, these traditions have enriched our nation.
Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
During the week students will have the opportunity to get involved with some activities in class and participate in lunchtime activities.
In order to help us all remember the diversity that makes us special, the library has a new Intercultural section. Why not have a look the next time you visit the Library.
