Code of Conduct
As a school we pride ourselves on having strong values that support our students to be respectful and responsible members of their community. A key part of this is ensuring that our students understand the values of the school and how their behaviour can model these in a positive way.
Early next week, we will be sending home our school’s code of conduct for students to read and sign with their parents. This is done on a yearly basis and the idea is that all families can have a discussion around being a respectful and responsible member (and positive behaviours) of the Buninyong Primary School community.
Once complete, we ask that you return the signed code of conduct to your classroom teacher to let them know that you have held this discussion.
We thank everyone in advance for their support with this and helping to maintain a positive environment for our school.
Anxiety and Resilience Parent Information Session A Huge Success
Couple of Tuesdays ago, Buninyong hosted leading parenting and teaching expert, Michael Grose and Dr Jodi Richardson to support staff and families to understand how anxiety plays out in children (and ourselves) and how we can support our kids to become more resilient through managing their anxieties.
With a staff session held at 10am and further professional learning afterwards, our staff have a really thorough understanding of anxiety and how it can play out in children. They are also making adjustments to their classrooms and practices and will be working hard to create a common language as to how we can support all kids with managing anxiety and anxiety disorders.
Later on in the evening, we also held a parent session, which was attended by approximately 160 parents from all areas of the school community. Feedback already received indicated that everyone found the session highly beneficial and will provide families with practical ways that they can build more resilient kids. Over the coming weeks you will see plenty of information from this session in the newsletter.
Family Groups Begin!
Friday week ago also saw the beginning of our Family Groups program at our Buninyong campus. The idea around family groups is to encourage students from all over the campus to build friendships with other students that are not in their class or year level. They also provide a great opportunity for our older students to role model and for our younger students to learn off them.
As we walked around to see them in action, it was great to see lots of older students buddying up with littler ones and supporting them to achieve common goals. Well done kids!
