SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTIONS
With the School Council election process complete, we can now announce that the following parents and teachers have been elected to join School Council:
- Parent Representatives – Graeme Benn, Kartya de Graaff, Tegan Winzar, Christy Roberts and Luke Blunden
- DET (Department of Education & Training) Representatives - Paula Dekok and Katie Adamson
They join Dave Young, Scott McGlynn, Liam Murphy, Catriona Fox, Mark Verdoorn, Melinda Stewart and Bernie Conlan in making up our School Council for the coming 12 months.
A big thank you to our retiring School Councillors, those being Kelly Pails, Yvette Gunn and Usha Kalluri. Our School Council has worked very effectively over the past few years, so we appreciate the efforts of this group.
A special thankyou to Yvette Gunn, who has done an outstanding job as School Council President for the last 12 months.
On March 25 we have the last meeting of our current School Council and on May 27 we have our AGM and the May meeting, which will be the first meetings for our new School Councillors.
MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS FOR SCOTSBURN
Student Toilets - We’ve received confirmation that the replacement of student toilets project at Scotsburn is to commence at the end of next week. That’s great news and we hope to have new toilets available for use early next term….maybe even at the start of term.
Water Supply - Our Scotsburn Campus is not on town water, so we rely on what is harvested from the roof space and the little we get from a nearby spring. Unfortunately this is not nearly enough during dry periods, so the yard is looking parched right now.
Late last year we received a grant that will help us fund the sinking of a bore. An application seeking approval for this to happen has been lodged with Southern Rural Water and a big thankyou to Liam Murphy who has driven this process. Should the application be successful, we will get the ball rolling immediately and hopefully have works done in the coming few months.
Thanks also to our neighbour at Scotsburn Julian, who has been most helpful throughout this process and Mike Gray (Issy's dad), who has provided great plumbing advice and undertaken plumbing works along the way.
