Year 6

Assistant Principal's Report

This fortnight in Year 6...

It's hard to believe that we're heading towards the middle of Term 3 already!   The time is flying and our Year 6 students amaze me every day with the way they are maturing and growing into such responsible and respectable young men and women.

By now, Secondary School placements have been sent home and our students are beginning to think about what Year 7 will really be like.   Some are excited and cannot wait to enter the next stage of their education journey, however, some are beginning to feel a little apprehensive and nervous about what may lie ahead.

Our Year 6 teachers work hard throughout the entire year to ensure our students are ready for the demands of Secondary School.   One of the ways we have enhanced our program over the past couple of years is by inviting Year 11 students from Pakenham Secondary College to PSPS, to deliver a series of short lessons aimed at giving our students a 'taste test' of what Secondary School is all about.

Over the past term, we have had a number of visits from the Year 11 PSC students, delivering sessions on how to read a timetable, what to expect in high school (in regards to uniforms, bells, help from teachers, etc) as well as some short lessons in Geography, Science and Sport.  They've conducted sessions around the values of PSC and have also provided the opportunity for our students to ask any questions they may have about the big step into Secondary School.

The students have really enjoyed these sessions - I hope the information they received has helped with some of the anxiety they may be feeling.  Please remember that students are welcome to come and have a chat with their buddy teacher or me if they have any concerns about their transition to Secondary School.

Wishing you all a fabulous fortnight ahead!

Kind Regards
