Principal's Report

School Review

This week we have been undertaking our 4 yearly school review.  It has been a pleasure to have external representatives in the school to observe and hear where we have come from, where we are currently at and support in making our strategic plan for the next 4 years.

Our review team have spent time observing classes, talking with students, staff, parents and the leadership team to get as much insight as possible.  Thank you to everyone who gave their time to give the review team insight.

Monday is the final day of the review where we will be looking at all the feedback and setting goals and targets to strive towards over the next strategic plan.

Athletics Carnival

Thank you for your support and understanding regarding the cancellation of the Athletics carnival. Once our PE team have got through the trials over the next few days they will work on a plan for a different opportunity for the students to participate in, later in the year when the weather improves.  We have credited all families accounts who had paid for the Athletics to go towards the event later in the year.  Thank you to Scott Holmes and Rhys Davie who put countless hours of preparation into the event and have been resilient in re-planning!  They are also looking at our 2020 whole school calendar to try and find a time where the weather is kind to us.

Parent Opinion Survey

If you were randomly selected and received a Parent Opinion Survey in your email we encourage you to take a moment in your busy schedule to fill it in.  We currently have 38% complete and we are hoping that number climbs to give us a better understanding of our future needs.

Inclusive Playground

Pakenham Springs Primary School have been successful in applying and securing a grant to upgrade and add to our outside school environment.   Work has begun today.   Confirmed plans include:

  • Outdoor musical equipment designed to promote cognitive and emotional growth, along with physical, creative and community play opportunities.
  • Shade Sails over existing tables for sun-smart play. The tables and chairs also promote conversation between students and a place to rest
  • Native plants will complement the area
  • Water Pump designed to provide a multi-level sensory play experience, Incredibly fun for younger children, enhances a child's physical, cognitive, and social skills as well as supporting gross motor skills development
  • Coloured perplex walkway that will lead into/out of the area. This has been designed to entice students to wander and explore.  It will not just be a simple walkway, its reflected colour will encourage children to explore, investigate and develop ideas and hypothesis.

Please take care over the weekend in the severe weather conditions.  Have a great weekend.
