Wicked!

Last week, our college presented the epic musical production of WICKED. When we first decided to tackle this show, we knew we were in for an amazing show but all our students surpassed expectations.

WICKED is not an easy show, with complex harmonies, massive solos and powerhouse ballads. Our students took on the challenge and were simply outstanding. Brentwood is proud of the performing arts program that we have established. The culture in the school, the links in the community and professional standard makes the experience one everyone will remember.

The production team were supported by a range of Brentwood staff, families and friends of Brentwood in the establishment of stunning costumes, visually outstanding sets and lighting, effective props and epic sound. I would like to thank everyone who assisted in making this production the success that it is. Without the support of everyone we would not be able to present such rewarding and challenging productions. On behalf of the students in the cast, I would like to thank and acknowledge the core production team for their work in the production – Musical Director Ben Franklin, Choreographers Sophie McCluskey and Brooke Young, Technical Director Brenton Van Vliet and Assistant Production Manager Tracey Campion. I would also like to extend my thanks to Daniel Mackay, Martin Strong, Lisa Hocking, John Satchell, Adam Rosenfeld, Andrea Weinbergs, Danni Mortimer, Kim Nash and Penny Adam for their significant contribution.

I would also like to extend my thanks to former students Taryn Logan, Kathryn Vavasseur, Emma Marks, Ben Hailey and Fraya Thorley for the hours they have contributed during production week. Finally I would like to thank the following former students, parents and community members for their support; Danny Ginsberg, Colin Hartley, Anita Chipman, Brett Wingfield, Jacinta Wilson, Glen Round, Michael Round, Luke Karipis, Shao-Hwei Crewe, Matt Hollard, Jordan Hollard, Yvette Hollard, Tegan Bowden, David McKinnon, Steve Atkinson, Mandy Young, Jess Franklin, Mandy Dennehy, Judy Beard, Miriam Levey, Sue Hartley, Felicity Eastwood, Deanne Thompson, Debra Round, Denise Cooper, Kathryn Vaughan, Rose Peris, Anne Tinney, Lina Lamont, Cynthia Van Der Hurst, Pam Seymour-Gough, Rebecca Vavasseur, Judith Tinney, Kay Wagner, Leesa Tinney, Merilyn Strong, Emma Stevenson, Sally Martin, Jess Watson, Yaz Sesta, Peter Thwaites, Greg Ginger, Michael Petrani, Todd Winterton, Olivia Gleeson, James Terry and Tony Wilde.

We are so proud of this production and will miss it dearly. But we now turn our focus to next year and our production of Disney’s Freaky Friday. If you want to be involved in our performing arts program – please contact me via brentwoodperformingarts@gmail.com
