Sayounara Yuna!

As per the compass message sent home over the weekend, unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 situation our delightful Assistant Language Teacher Yuna Sensei was required to return to Japan. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her during her time with us this term and would like to thank her for her contribution to Buninyong Primary School.

JAPANESE WORKBOOKS IN THE RESOURCE PACKS

Students will have received their Japanese workbooks in their remote learning resource packs sent home today. In the front of each book are some reference sheets for students to glue into their books. To help prevent them being misplaced over the holiday break it would be appreciated if students could glue these in as soon as possible please. Thanks so much for your assistance with this.

The Japanese book will also double as the PE book for the duration of any remote learning period. Simply flip the book over and work from the other end!

JAPANESE IDEAS FOR THE HOLIDAYS:

With a little extra time at home over the holiday break, here are some ideas for Japanese learning and activities:

  • Netflix: Watch a STUDIO GHIBLI movie (My Neighbour Totoro is a great one to start with)
  • Download the recommended apps from the remote learning handbook so you are ready to learn when term 2 commences. Have a play with the apps!
  • Design a Japanese garden
  • Practice your counting in Japanese
  • Sing an action song in Japanese (plenty on youtube!). Maybe the Yokai dance? Atama, kata, hiza, ashi (heads, shoulders, knees & toes)?
  • Find something in your house that was made in Japan
  • Use the duolingo app and / or www.realkana.com for 5 minutes every day and watch your Japanese knowledge expand
  • Find a Japanese recipe to cook for your family
  • Make Yuna Sensei a thank you card or picture
  • Introduce yourself to others in Japanese
