Principal's Report

Principal's Report

It really has been quite a ride over the past few weeks and we are proud of the way our school community has come together to manage a challenging situation.  Life is going to be quite different for all of us over the next few months and we feel for those who will do it tough for a range of reasons.  If we can help out in any way, please let us know.

By now most of you will have picked up your Student Resource Pack.  Please pop these away in a safe place ready for learning from home should schools be closed from the start of next term.  We still can’t be sure that will happen, but will be ready to start remote learning from Wednesday April 15 if required.  Remember that Tuesday April 14 is a pupil free day.

The sudden conclusion of this term has meant the community dispersed without us getting the opportunity to prepare the students or yourselves for remote learning as we would have liked to.  We are currently working on a Remote Learning Parent Booklet, which will be sent home via Compass later this week.  Please have a read of this over the holidays and maybe have a go at accessing Compass and WebEx.  WebEx is the platform we will be using to video conference with students.

We’re still here for you - With the Department bringing forward school holidays and the potential remote learning process looming, it is important to remind everyone that we are still working hard on supporting all families through this time. We know that there will be queries and concerns that will need to be addressed as we work our way through this pandemic, including how we can support families with remote learning.

To work effectively through inquiries, we ask that families utilize the emails listed on our Remote Learning Cards (see attached) for support with online subscriptions and technical issues.

Additionally, if you have a different query around learning and/or student wellbeing, please email your classroom teacher (Via Compass). From there, if you feel your query needs further attention, please email a principal (Via Compass), the school email (buninyong.ps@education.vic.gov.au) or call the main office on 5341 3560, where we will work to address your correspondence in a timely manner.

Please note that our school phone number will be diverted if and when school closure comes into effect to ensure we can respond appropriately should you have an urgent query.

We are currently in un-chartered waters and have done our best to develop a Remote Learning Plan that will enable students to maintain progress with their learning in the event of school closures.  If you have questions or suggestions, please send these through, as no doubt there are things we have not thought of.  If you click into the Insight section of Compass, you’ll see a ‘Questions and Suggestions’ box.  Please feel free to use that to send through your thoughts, especially after you have received the Parent Remote Learning Booklet, which will answer some of your questions.

We will continue to send through any updates as they come though over the holiday break, so rest assured you will know exactly what’s going on.

We wish everyone all the best as you bunker down over the coming few weeks.

Bernie, Dave and Scott
