Update from the Year 5/6 Community

In the Year 5/6 Community we have been working on problem solving. The students looked at various scenarios where they needed to decide whether they could resolve the problem on their own, with the help of a friend, or with the help of an adult.

The students also looked at developing their verbal communication skills. We played a great game where the students partnered up and, sitting back to back, had to give verbal instructions for their partner to draw onto their page. The results were quite entertaining and provided a great opportunity for students to strengthen these skills.

Message from the Student Leaders

Well done on the fantastic change we have seen of all of you taking the trouble to borrow pieces of equipment to play with at lunch. Just a few reminders about how we treat the equipment and how we respond to the limited amount of it that we are given.

In case you don’t know, the only four pieces of play equipment you are allowed to borrow are netballs, basketballs, hula hoops and skipping ropes. Those pieces are meant to be used for their intended purposes, not to be kicked or pulled. We have only put out those pieces for borrowing because there are a lot of them and no one gets left out.

Please remember to return the equipment to the shed at the end of lunch so that we can continue to run this great program for you.
