Student Well-being

News from the Team

The well-being team are excited to have a new Well-being Centre (Room L1, near the IT office) this year.  The extra room and new well-being resources, including sand-play and art therapy tools, are being well used!

Here are some photos for you to see what the students now have to enjoy!

Tyndale Christian School staff know that social and emotional concerns and personal circumstances can impact on school engagement, emotional well-being and relationships.  We encourage you to reach out for support in challenging times, for referral assistance or information about other agencies/services, or for help working out coping strategies and personal goals.  A well-being staff member is available each school day to provide support for children and young people from our Early Learning Centre to Year 12.

Referrals can be made by a student, parent/caregiver or staff member.  Please contact the Student Services Office or speak with the class/pastoral care teacher to make a referral or request contact from the well-being team.

We warmly welcome Courtney Timms-Shillabeer, a student social worker from Flinders University, who is doing her 3rd year placement with us during Semester 1.  Please note that parental permission is obtained before university students provide ongoing individual well-being sessions.

God Bless,

Noni, Elona and Graeme

Introducing . . . .

My name is Courtney Timms-Shillabeer and I am a Social Work Student from Flinders University and I will be joining the well-being team for Term 1 and Term 2. I have lived in Strathalbyn since I was two years old and I feel that I have a good sense of the community and what it’s like to grow up and live in this lovely town. I’m excited to be working at Tyndale over this time and to get to know the students and staff around the school.

As I am training to be a Social Worker, I am here to assist students in identifying and enhancing their strengths throughout all stages of their learning journey; from Reception to Year 12. I understand that there can be challenges associated with school and I am aware that some students have a harder time than others. I care about the mental health and wellbeing of students and I respect that some students require some extra help to identify their strengths, passions and beliefs. I feel as if I connect with many of the values which Tyndale encompasses; particularly that I believe in inclusivity, the nurturing of spiritual and emotional growth and that every person is intrinsically valuable for who they are.

Over my time here, I will be joining the Year 9 girls’ Rite Journey class, and I will eventually provide a Wellbeing Program of my own. I will be working alongside the other Wellbeing Staff, and I have the honour to learn from their experiences and expertise. I’m here as an extra pair of eyes and ears as well as some extra support to assure that the students get the most out of their schooling experience.

It’s truly a privilege to be joining the inclusive, respectful and welcoming community, here at Tyndale School.
