Library News

From the Librarian
The library, being a place of books, is a place which celebrates reading in all its different levels and applications. This year we are aiming to make it a place which celebrates writing, too. Last year we enjoyed a visit from the children’s author Amanda Graham and this week a new set of Croser books (Nigel, Jo and Joelie) is on display.
However …
It is student writing that we really want to encourage and showcase this year. There is an invitation to read a Colin Thiele book from the display and write a review on it … indeed a book review on any book from the library would be good to see. Mrs Fergusson and I have created a couple of spaces for displaying student work and I’ve heard that some students are creating books especially for their buddies. What a lovely idea!
The buddy scheme is also playing out in the library with some Year 6 students coming in to support buddies with puzzles and games during lunch, and others have come to help wherever needed amongst the young weavers. Special thanks to Alana Davies and Catie Green!
Please help to nurture writing in your families … I am looking forward to enjoying some student stories and poems as the term rolls on.
