Administration Matters
How have you gone surviving this hot week? With our extreme weather policy in place, all students were well catered for today, Friday, in air-conditioned facilities as the temp hit 40 deg by lunchtime.
More than 20 families braved the warm evening on Wednesday this week and attended our ELC/Primary Family BBQ. It was lovely to spend the time together with you and we appreciated you making the effort to be here. I trust you found the time valuable, connecting with your child's teachers and the new friends your children have made in 2019.
BUS TRAVEL
As a new year begins, it is timely be reminded of the need to be extremely vigilant when dropping your children off at the bus stop, and again, collecting them in the afternoon. A recent report by SAPOL has shown that there has been two reports of children targeted in the Adelaide Hills area in recent weeks.
Can I also ask that if there are changes to your child's bus travel arrangements on a given day, ie they may need to use an alternative bus service than their regular one, or will be collected by yourself, please let the office staff know so that buses are not held up necessarily at the end of the day looking for your children before leaving. If an alternative bus service is required on a given day, please also note that we provide your child with a bus transfer pass (no cost) so as to give them authority to do so.
RIDE TO SCHOOL DAY
Friday 22 March 2019 is “Ride to School Day”.
On this day each year more than 350,000 students across Australia ride, walk, scoot or skate to school. We encourage students where feasible, to be active on the journey to and from school and families to leave the car at home. A safe place and secure place is provided for your child's bike or scooter here at school, so we look forward to celebrating your child's commitment to being active where possible.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Swimming Carnival has been rescheduled to Friday 8 March. We are looking forward to a cooler day for this event and as it is a compulsory school day, expect all students from year 4 to year 12 to be in attendance.
The Strathalbyn Pool hosts this event and has provided us with a menu should you want to send your child/ren with money to purchase snacks and /or lunch. Pre orders are not required.
Hard copies of the menu are available from the student office if you'd like one sent home.
SCHOOL TOURS
A reminder that our first School Tour event for 2019 is scheduled for Thursday 7 March 2019. If you know of friends or family looking for a place with us in 2020 or earlier, there are only a few vacancies available in a number of year levels and I would love the opportunity to meet with them and hear more of how we can assist.
Bookings can be made here
Kind regards,

ELC & Primary Parent Teacher Interviews
As noted in the School Calendar and on the Diary page of the newsletter, Term 1 Parent / Teacher Interviews for ELC and Primary children are scheduled for Wednesday 13 March and Thursday 14 March, a few weeks earlier than in most years.
Bookings for ELC Preschool children can be made at the ELC when signing your children in or out from Tuesday Week 5.
Bookings for children in Reception to Year 6 can now be made here:
Interviews will take place in your child's classroom with their home class teacher and are for 15 minute intervals. As most classes will be fully booked, if you find that more time is required, please make an alternative time with the class teacher.
