Oblate Cricket 2019
Good luck to the Mazenod WA Oblate Cricket Team who leave for Melbourne on Sunday to compete in the 2019 Oblate Cricket Carnival. The team have been training for the past several months for the tournament. Best of luck to the team and coaches Mr Grabski and Mr Cannell. The team would also like to thanks Old Boy (2017) Liam Hindle who assisted the team at training.
Staff v Students Cricket Match
Batting first – In their final preparation for the Oblate Cricket Tour to Melbourne next week, the students were 1 for 0 after the first ball, and the staff were sniffing a clinical destruction of the student batting line up. It was certainly not the case!
Oblate Cricket Team 8 for 174 (25 overs)
- Regan Hill 63
- Jonathan Mance 31
- Tarquin Mars 23
- Matthew Harbinson 19
- Mr Cannell 4 overs 2/4
- Mr Payne 1 over 2/6
- Mr Grabski 4 overs 2/30
- Mr Mason 3 overs 1/16
A great start in the run chase by opening pair Mr Akmens and Mr Hindle, and with Mr Cannell and Mr Grabski putting on a big partnership, an unlikely staff victory was looking on the cards. But when Joshua Warden bowled Mr Cannell for 43, and Mr Grabski was caught on the boundary by Regan Hill after a fierce bouncer by team captain Arun Alex, the students team rose to the challenge and claimed victory!
Staff Team 5/163 (25 overs)
- Mr Cannell 43
- Mr Hindle 36
- Mr Akmens 28
- Mr Grabski 28
- Regan Hill 3 overs 3/15
- Arun Alex 4 overs 1/16
- Lucas Henderson 2 overs 1/16
- Joshua Warden 4 overs 1/30
Man of the Match – Regan Hill
Staff Player of the Match – Mr Cannell
Good luck to the players and coaches in Melbourne next week!
