Hidden Talent comes to Light
Who knew that our Year 12 Literature students had such talent? This week I was lucky enough to be invited to a lunchtime performance of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof starring our very own Clyde North Literature students. The authentic accents of the American south, the outstanding timing in delivery of lines and the subtle props transported the audience to the Deep South in the 1950’s.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is one of Tennessee Williams best known plays, winning him the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1955. For Year 12 students the play is rich in themes including social mores, greed, superficiality, decay, sexual desire, repression and death. Well done to all involved in acting out such a complex play which still hold so much relevance for a twenty first century audience.
