Wellbeing

How has your week been with nearly another week of remote learning?

Empty rooms are not what we want at OLHC.

We want children and laughter and learning in our classrooms.

But this is the way it is at the moment.

I recall reading and watching many webinars, stories, reflections, homemade movies, reports, photos… last year during Remote Learning 1.0 & 2.0

Two things that I still find useful are Dr. Justin Coulson’s 4 key thoughts from his webinar   ‘Lightening the Lockdown Load’.

  1. Children need to be heard
  2. Children need humour
  3. Children need to help others
  4. Children need to have hope

If we can try to build these 4 behaviours in our day, over the next week, the lockdown time may go a little faster. Let’s hope!

A small poster I have called ‘Things I Can Control’ is worth revisiting to help us have hope and allow us a sense of control when things we want to do are at the moment out of our control. This poster, with 25 ideas, could be worth using as a focus for a family chat.

What things do you and your children have control over during lockdown?

Please let me know if I can offer any support over the coming week of remote learning for your child/children. I can be contacted at

lindy.chaplin-holmes @olhceltham.catholic.edu.au or please leave a message with wonderful Liz.

Take care
