Career Advice

As published last week, this week has been National Careers Week. The wide range of online sites dedicated to career information and advice, have all ‘celebrated’ the week by offering a range of webinars and reminders of what they have to offer students and parents in considering options in further training and education.

Following is information regarding one of these sites, ‘My Future’ - one of the highly regarded sites that supports students, teachers and parents.

The College offers career advice at any time – feel free to make an appointment, email or ring if you have questions or simply want to explore options.

Get ready, stay ready!

As a regular cyclist I am well aware of the risks involved in sharing the road with traffic.  In most states throughout Australia, cyclists riding without a helmet can be expected to be stopped and fined by the police.

While Alice Springs has a network of great bike paths, it is impossible for the majority of St Philip’s students to get from home to school without using or crossing the road while riding.  Two high risk intersections are very close to the College and in the past there have been near misses and the occasional accident involving students riding to and from the College.  Thankfully, to date, these have not resulted in significant injury.

With this in mind, it is a College rule that students riding to and from the College should be wearing a helmet.  Failure to do so may result in detention or alternative arrangements being made before the student is allowed to leave the College grounds.

Staff will be monitoring the bike shed closely in the coming weeks to ensure that all students are following these rules.
