Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents,

This week students from various year groups engaged with different support mechanisms to enhance their learning and role within society. Our Year 11 and 12 students attended a support evening catered towards providing information on mental health management, study skills and essential information for the completion of the Preliminary and HSC courses.

Our thanks go to Mr Lawler and Mr Morris for organising the evening and to all of those who presented. Our Year 7 and 8 students were visited by Senior Constable Alex Davies today to discuss important societal issues. Senior Constable Davies spoke to Yr 9-12 earlier this year and today delivered important messages around mental health, bullying, harassment, intimidation and the uses of social media.

The students engaged well with the talk and asked numerous questions. We hope that our students feel more informed regarding their place within both the College and wider community.

I am pleased to inform you that MCC successfully facilitated NAPLAN Online over the past few weeks for Year 7 and 9 students. Students completed four diagnostic tests each over the course of the testing period. I wish to thank all the staff that supervised tests - many of whom did so in their free time or set up or packed up the tests in their lunch and recess time.I also wish to thank our IT and administration support staff who ensured that the process was smooth and problem free.  We look forward to receiving the results in Term 3.

Parents, also please note that Year 11 Reports will be accessible on Monday via Compass. Students will receive a grade matched against the course performance descriptors and based on class and assessment work. Please understand that this is not simply a reflection of their summative/formal assessment tasks.

Year 7-10 Reports are currently being completed by Staff ready for a release during Week 10 of the term.

Yours in Learning
