Fair Share

This week in mathematics we have been learning about 'fair share'. We have been practising sharing a small collection of objects equally among groups. We have been using blocks, counters and playdough to help us practise this skill. We have also read the book "The Doorbell Rang" by Pat Hutchins. In this story, the two children shared 12 cookies equally between themselves and then the doorbell rang and more children entered. The children continued to share the cookies out equally between the children that were visiting. After we read the book, we acted this out in our classrooms and we realised that the more people that we had to share the cookies with, the less cookies each person received.

Buddy Reading with the Kinder

This week on Monday, Room 1 visited Red Group at the kinder. We took our favourite classroom library book to share with a kinder buddy. We had so much fun sharing these books with our new friends and celebrated our love of reading together. After our reading we were able to have a play with our new friends and explore their learning environment. Room 2 and Room 3 will visit the kinder next week. We look forward to sharing some photos of their visit in the next newsletter.
