Please support our staff participating in the Vinnie’s Sleepout

On any given night in Australia more than 116,000 people are experiencing homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. Our Principal, Nicole Mangelsdorf and Assistant Principal: Learning and Teaching, Jane Ward are taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout again this year to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. They will be joining other participants in sleeping outside on 17 June to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.

Nicole is a passionate Vinnies volunteer, spending each Sunday for the last 12 months driving the streets of the city, Fitzroy and Richmond, distributing food parcels, blankets, clothing items and toiletries and Vinnie’s store cards to rough sleepers in Melbourne.

Fundraising events such as this help raise funds so that Vinnie’s can continue to provide crisis accommodation, food, healthcare, counselling, education, employment and support to find a permanent home for people throughout the country. Every donation helps make a difference to people who need it most.

Birthing Kit Assembly Day

You can help to save the lives of Mothers and Babies around the world! We live in a world where tragically 295,000 women die every year from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, and 2.5 million babies die in their first month of life. This is preventable. This is why Birthing Kits exist.

Infection (such as sepsis) acquired during or directly after childbirth, is one of the leading (third most likely) causes of newborn and maternal death. Good hygiene is critical in eliminating infection during and after childbirth. By providing a Clean Birth Kit, mothers giving birth at home or with limited medical support have the resources to reduce their exposure to disease and infection. A Clean Birth Kit is a powerful gift of hope, and importantly, a gift that saves lives.

The College is proud to host a Birthing Kit Assembly Day on Monday 21 June where we can gather to put together Birthing Kits for distribution to pregnant women living in rural communities and low-resource settings around the world.

Please refer to the attached flyer for details on how you can participate or make a donation to cover the cost of the Clean Birth Kits. For more information about the important work of the Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia visit www.bkfa.org.au
