Student Wellbeing Reflections

What a fortnight!  While almost every week at Kilbreda College is filled with activity, fun and community events - this past fortnight was certainly one of the busiest.  There was plenty of school spirit on display at the House Fun Run on Tuesday with students encouraging each other to do their best while earning valuable points for their House. The lunchtime dance-offs in the Undercroft as part of Canteen Week have been a raging hit as students showed off their creative talents in the hope that it would be rewarded with a canteen voucher.  The SRC have been busy creating notes of affirmation to remind students to smile as part of 'National Smile Day' on Monday 31 May.  Our performing arts students have entertained us with lunchtime and evening concerts and our SCSA basketball representatives achieved great success at the recent SCSA basketball tournament.  Our Living Justice Leaders have continued to remind us of the importance of building relationships with our First Nation people as part of Reconciliation Week.  Our community ambassadors welcomed back the Class of 2020 with a wonderful reunion last Friday night.  My thanks and congratulations to all staff and students who have given their time and expertise to make these events so successful.

Exam Preparation

Preparation for the upcoming exams was a focus of our Year 9 to 11 pastoral lesson this week. Here is the workbook that students were encouraged to complete as part of their planning and preparation for the exams.

Commitment to Child Safety

Here at the College, we firmly believe all students enrolled, and any student visiting, always have a right to feel safe and be safe. The wellbeing of students in our care will always be our first priority and we have zero tolerance for child abuse. At the College, we strive to maintain a child safe and child friendly environment where children feel safe and are free to enjoy life to the full without any concern for their safety. We are committed to continually reviewing our Child Safe policies and practices to ensure that every effort is made for ongoing improvement of our Child Safe environment.

We  recognise that some groups of students are particularly vulnerable, and we are committed to promoting the cultural safety of Aboriginal/linguistically diverse children and also promoting the safety of children with a disability.

Please make yourself familiar with our Child Safe Policies and Procedures which can be accessed on the school website.

Attendance

Attending school is very important and our expectations are that students will attend school everyday in order to maximise their learning and the opportunities available to them at the College.  Parents are encouraged to make appointments for their child outside school hours where this is possible.  Where this is not possible, parents are required to notify the College either via PAM or the attendance line ahead of time so that Student Services can register the appointment.
