Technology Design

Year 9  Textiles and Fashion

Students worked so hard to complete their tote bag with so many interruptions throughout Semester 1. They were given the following Design Technology brief:

Investigate - Tote bag shapes & designs- exploring different options

Generate - ideas for the bag shape and fabric treatments of shibori, sticky tape stencilling, stencilling. Students annotated their samples, using design thinking of  PMI- (Plus, Minus, Interesting) to decide which fabric treatment would work best for their individual tote bag.

Plan and manage - look at fabric pattern terminology, draft their own pattern and practice using the sewing machine. Looking at safety areas of using a sewing machine and track the progress of Tote Bag.

Produce - Sew the tote bag, apply fabric treatment to the Tote Bag. Is the fabric of the Tote Bag sustainable, what equipment did you need to produce the Tote Bag.

Evaluate - Discuss if the Tote Bag was functional and did it meet the criteria of the Rubric. What was involved in the process of making the Tote Bag?

What changes were needed to produce the Tote Bag, why?

Well done to my semester 1 Textiles and Fashion class.
