Étudier le français à Koonung

Koonung Secondary College is very fortunate and grateful to have a Language Assistant, Antoinette Tuckwell, this year. Antoinette shares her time between Koonung and Canterbury Girls' Secondary College.

Antoinette spends her time helping students to improve their confidence with the French language, especially after the interruptive year we had last year and we continue to have this year due to COVID. Antoinette's passion for the French language and culture is evident in her interaction with students. She is very insightful about what the student needs, finding the gaps and giving impromptu grammar lessons. Antoinette shows extensive knowledge of teaching and learning a second language and excellent classroom teaching practice. She is very confident in explaining a variety of concepts to the whole class. Her ability to compare the two languages and explain grammatical differences to students are very effective during her one to one sessions with students.

All our senior students are improving and benefiting from the individual attention they are receiving from her. She is assisting them in preparing them well for the oral examination, building their confidence and enhancing their language acquisition. Students look forward to seeing her each week to practise, receive individual tailored feedback to improve and progress and their speaking skills. In addition, she is very creative in producing modified worksheets for our less able students. She is quite energetic, very proactive with students and takes initiatives. All students appreciate her assistance and presence in class.

WEP (World Education Program) recently interviewed many of the French language Assistants around Melbourne to celebrate  the 2021 Local Native-speaker Language Assistants Progam.    Please follow the link below to read of Antoinette's experience in the classroom at Koonung.
