FOUNDATION - AROUND THE TRAPS

Diana Rinaldi

Literacy

Our shared text Farmer Duck has continued to be a focus in reading and writing this week. We couldn’t believe it when I received a postcard from the farmer in the story! It has made us think differently about the situation between the hard-working duck and the lazy farmer! This week we will also look closely at the language orientation (understanding the author's word choice), a word study and then the final stage of the scaffolding literacy teaching sequence, patterned writing. This book also lends itself nicely to learn what an onomatopoeia is!

We have made it to the final week! The students have worked very hard throughout the first half of this year and I am very proud of them. Have a restful break and I look forward to seeing you all in Term Three.
