NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week 2021 will be held from Sunday 4 July to Sunday 11 July

As NAIDOC Week occurs during the school term break, we have celebrated this event in the last week of term. The theme for 2021 is Heal Country.

For Indigenous Australians, country is more than a place and is inherent to their identity. They speak of country like a person that sustains all aspects of their lives – spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially and culturally.

In 2021, NAIDOC Week is an invitation to embrace First Nations’ cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage and equally respect the culture and values of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders as they do the cultures and values of all Australians.

It is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.

'All Star' Rock Concert recognising NAIDOC Week

On Thursday our All Star band treated students and teachers to a lunch time rock concert.  This concert was to recognise and celebrate NAIDOC week, and featured a stellar rendition of "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil.

See our Music Matters page for a more detailed account.
