Year 8 Chinese

Last week our Year 8 students participated in a classroom debate on tourism and its impact.

STUDENT REFLECTION

Our year 8 Chinese class held a debate on "tourism" last week. The topic of our debate was: the advantages and disadvantages of tourism to tourist attractions. Under the guidance of Ms Chen, we were divided into two groups, with a judge. After a few classes time of preparation, we successfully held a debate last Thursday.

The debate went for a whole period with both teams benefiting a lot from it, and we all gained the much-needed experience. The end of the debate left a deep impression on us. It not only exercised our language skills but also taught us the importance of team consciousness in a collective activity. Although the two teams presented with different viewpoints, it went back and forth smoothly. What is more exciting was that the debates were a combination of contradictions from each other. There was no absolute. Everyone had their own opinions. This debate has enriched our year 8 life culture.
