Term 2 In Review
We have had another busy term for sport. With another lockdown, we had a few changes and had to postpone games so thank you to everyone for their flexibility and resilience this term.
SENIOR AFL
We did manage to start the term with our senior AFL boys and girls’ teams having a great day out. No wins but our boys came runners up!
SENIOR ROUND ROBIN
Our senior round robin was next and our Badminton, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer and Table Tennis teams represented the college demonstrating their talents in their chosen sports.
- Our Badminton, boys Soccer and girls Basketball teams all came runners up
- Our boys Basketball team won their pool and will be moving into the Eastern region competition on the 3rd of August!
Well done to our senior teams and good luck to our senior boys Basketball team in the next round.
INTERMEDIATE SPORT
Our intermediate AFL, Badminton, Soccer and Netball teams represented the college next.
- Our boy’s Badminton and AFL teams finished runners up to Balwyn High School.
- The intermediate boy’s Soccer team won their competition and will represent the Boroondara division in the Easter region competition on the Monday the 19th of July. Well done to the boys Soccer team and Mr Pring, their coach!
YEAR 7 ROUND ROBIN
The year 7 round robin snuck in just before lockdown, so we were lucky enough to send our year 7 Soccer, AFL and Netball teams out for the day to represent Doncaster Secondary College.
- Once again Soccer proved to be our strength and the boy’s soccer team were unbeatable on the day and won their competition, moving to the next round of competition in term 4.
CROSS COUNTRY
We also managed to sneak in the Boroondara division Cross Country this term, sending 80 students to compete in the event.
- 18 of our students finished top 15 for their age groups which means they will now represent the Boroondara division on the 22nd of July at the Eastern Region Cross country at Yarra Glen race course.
- A special congratulation to Jack D of year 10 who finished 2nd for his age group running 5000m in 18 minutes.
Unfortunately, due to the lockdown our junior girls AFL has been postponed to next term, the 14th of July, so please keep an eye on compass for more information on this event.
Once again, I would like to thank all the staff that have volunteered their time to support the sports program this term, it would simply not be possible to run our program without them.
Well done to everyone that participated in sport this term and good luck to our teams that have made it through to the next stage of competition.
