Jesus - the bread of life

This weekend's Gospel continues with a similar theme as last week. Bread is once again the focus that is emphasized both literally and spiritually. What do we feed upon? Do we nourish our bodies with food that strengthens us? Do we hunger and nourish our minds with the bread of life that is Christ?

The choice of bread by Christ as a symbol and representation of His body is not by accident. The food choice of bread is deliberate to emphasize the communal nature of its creation. The soil needs to be tilled and the seed needs to be planted, harvested then milled into flour and baked. Finally, the bread is ready to be served.

Just like during the celebration of Passover and the Last Supper, bread was broken and shared with Jesus saying: 'Do this in memory of me'.

Our Year 4 students are preparing for their first  bread, their First Eucharist. As a school community we pray for them and lead by example so that they may recognise the importance of this time in their life.

Confirmation

Congratulations to all our students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last week. It was wonderful to see both our 2020 and 2021 students receive this final Sacrament of Initiation.

Bishop Gregory Bennet spent some very special time speaking with the students at the sanctuary when he blessed them with the Oil of Chrism to confirm their commitment to the faith.  We pray that the students have been filled the Holy Spirit and continue to be leading role models both in their school and family communities.

Prayers in Pyjamas

Unfortunately, we will have to postpone the Prayers in Pyjamas Sessions that were scheduled for the following dates:

Foundations Prayers in Pyjamas: Thursday 5th August at 6:00pm

Year 1 Prayers in Pyjamas: Thursday 19th August at 6:00pm

This change has occurred due to the COVID restrictions limiting our ability to gather in the hall as a school community.

We will inform you in the future as to when these events will take place.

Grow in gratitude and empathy.
