News and Notices

From the Principal

We had an amazing trip to Kelly Tarltons on Friday. It was great to see all the things that we have learned about this term and get an idea of scale. (It is only when you see the divers in the tank that you realise just how big the sharks and rays actually are.)

We all fell in love with the penguins and were really disappointed that we couldn't bring one back to school. But look what made it back with us! :)

Our children were very well behaved and did exactly what we asked of them.

DanceCrew Performance at Bruce Mason Theatre

Our little group of Gumbooters and Mod Dancers were a hit at Bruce Mason. I have had great feedback both on the performance and our children's behaviour. Our kids are real characters and this showed through in their dance.

I am trying to organise another performance at a retirement village as I believe the songs will really appeal to the older folk and it would be a good experience for our children. I'll keep you updated.

Interschool Cross-Country

I took a small team of four boys to interschool cross-country last week. Samuel Baines, Levi Brennan, Mason Willers and Sebastien Baldwin were excellent RidgeView REPs. I loved their can-do attitude and never-give-up resillience. Best of all, they are all keen to enter again next year.

A special congratulations goes to Samuel who came second in his race and therefore qualifies for the Supercluster race.

Matariki School Disco

FORS has organised a disco for this Friday 2 July 2021 from 17.30 - 19.30. Tickets cost $5 for one child or $10 for a family. You should have received an order form that can be returned to the office.

Younger siblings are welcome to attend, but must be actively supervised by a competent adult.

There will be many lovely things for sale, so it would be great if you can send your child with some spending money. Parents are also invited to stay and buy their dinner and have a chat with others from the school community.

Whole School Assembly

We are due to have our whole school assembly on Friday 9 July at 9am. We never take longer than half an hour and it is a lovely way for the students to share their learning. You are invited to pop into the staffroom afterwards for a cuppa and a biscuit.

EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom)

While the Year 4, 5 and 6s are off at camp, the rest of school will be having their own EOTC activities on 11, 12 and 13 August. Look out for more details coming soon.

New Telephone Number

We have received notification that our landline is going to be disconnected. As of the beginning of Term 3 we will only have the mobile number 027 593 5963.

Spare Clothing

We really need each child to bring some spare clothes to school during Terms 2 and 3. This means our older children as well as our littlies. It is so easy to slip in the mud and the wet, and we just don't have enough clothes for everyone.

Absences

If your child is going to be away from school, please either email Kalene on kalenem@ridgeview.school.nz or phone and leave a message on the answer phone. We need to follow up every day.
