CAMP KANGAROOBIE – 2021 YEAR 3 /4 STUDENTS
Dear Families,
I am writing this week’s newsletter from our Year 3 /4 Camp Kangaroobie situated in Princetown on the Old Ocean Road. After a very challenging 2020 school year, where our camp was cancelled due to COVID_19 and Lockdowns, it is such a privilege to be here with our year 3 /4 students, experiencing the great outdoors and many adventures together.
I thought I would share some highlights from the camp so far, as experienced by some of our students. I asked a sample of our students two key questions and noted their responses to share with our families.
- What was the best thing about Camp Kangaroobie?
Thomas Vasiloski 4M - ‘Making damper – bush cooking style’
Diana Nguyen 4L – ‘I loved the game Life or Death because I liked that the teachers joined in with the kids’.
Emmett Brady 4S – ‘Probably the food – I loved the spaghetti bolognaise it was super good and I loved the potato spuds’.
Anna Morina 4L – ‘I got to have lots of fun and had lots of different experiences’.
- What did you learn about yourself or someone else through the camp experience?
Thomas 4M - ‘I learnt that you have to help each other and not leave your team member behind’.
Diana 4L – ‘I learnt that you need to respect trees, the land and animals so that they can be with us for a long time’.
Emmett 4S – ‘I learnt a lot about team-work because usually I don’t like teams but I realise that teams can help you if you are stuck’.
Anna Morina 4L – ‘I learnt that you should always respect people’s privacy’.
I would like to congratulate all our Year 3 /4 campers, for their spark of adventure, teamwork, resilience and trust in the adults who accompanied them on this camp. It has been a joy for all us adults to be in the company of your beautiful children.
‘All good things are wild and free’ - unknown
Warmest Regards,
