Junior School Performing Arts

In Junior School Chapel this year, we have been able to feature a variety of students as Performer of the Week. Matthew King (5M) began Term 2 with a beautiful guitar solo; Reuben Talpan (5M) accompanied by his brother Mattias (11.15), amazing us with his violin skills; Jonathan Ho (5M) presenting a jazz rendition on the piano; and Elvin Pan (5M) playing a clarinet solo, showing maturity beyond his years. We also listened to two of our string ensembles, Ostinato and Cabaletta. There was certainly variety in these performances! We look forward to more performances this term.

The whole Junior School will combine to present the musical Annie Jnr later this term. Year 6 students auditioned for the lead roles and have already begun their rehearsals. There will be many parents who may know the songs, as well as their children, by September! Last term, other year groups participated in a varied program, including monologue performances, creating choreography, mastering recorder technique, investigating rhythm and pitch, arranging instrumental music and analysing famous compositions.

Our ensembles and choirs continue to eagerly prepare for the virtual Junior Ensemble Evening. This will include the debut of two new ensembles, Con Il Respiro and the Junior School Orchestra. Our choirs are also rehearsing a finale to remember! We know that you will enjoy this viewing experience, as our students share their talents and love of music.
