LIBRARY NEWS

Welcome to 2021 and Library at COHR.  All students have visited the Library this week for their weekly lesson.  In our lessons a story or two is read each time. These stories may be recently purchased books, related to an author/illustrator study or connected to an unit we might be exploring. Students may complete a book response (written or digital) and ALL students are invited to borrow.  

Borrowing can be done in our weekly lessons as well as before or after school on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.  Students do not have to wait for their scheduled weekly lesson to return and borrow.  Just pop into the Library and Mrs Wakeling or Lorraine will assist. Lorraine is our valuable library technician that catalogues all our books!

We ask that all students have a library bag so that our books are protected when going home and back to school.

Library Club - Wednesdays & Fridays at lunchtime.  The library is open during lunch time for any students that would like to visit.  Students can - read, look for books, draw, colour-in, write, do puzzles or play chess to name just a few activities. 

Scholastic Bookclub at COHR

Scholastic Book Club provides families with an affordable and convenient way to bring the best in children’s literature into their homes. Each issue contains curated, age-appropriate titles that have been carefully selected and levelled by a dedicated team of professional booklovers.

As well as bridging the important class-to-home reading gap, Book Club also benefits Australian schools—for every Book Club order placed, Scholastic gives back 20% of the order spend to schools to purchase valuable educational resources via its Scholastic Rewards program.

There are two issues a term and Issue 1 is out now.  It should have come home with your child via their class bucket this week. Parent's Guide to Bookclub. Parents/Families can order online scholastic.com.au/LOOP.  Online orders are preferred, if not return the order form and correct cash to the school office. Usually books arrive within 10 days of us submitting final orders.

STORYBOX LIBRARY - School Subscription

Imagine the best stories being read aloud to you by our favourite storytellers – well that's Story Box Library!

We get kids excited about reading, inspire their imaginations and let them have fun with stories, improving their language and literacy skills along the way.

With an ever-growing library, suitable for preschool and primary aged children, it really is Storytime, Anytime!
